Parties and acceptance
These Terms of Use govern your use of the Trophic AI mobile app. By downloading or using the app you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, please do not use the app. If you obtained the app from the App Store or Google Play, the rules of that store also apply; Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for the app.
Description of the service
Trophic AI is a nutrition tracking app that estimates calories and nutrition values from food photos using AI, and offers barcode scanning and a food diary. Core features can be used with a limited number of free scans; extended use is subject to a paid subscription (see Subscriptions and payments). An account is not required to use the app; an account is needed to carry your data across devices.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Trophic AI. Calorie tracking may not be appropriate for adolescents or for people at risk of eating disorders; the app is not directed at users under 18.
Health notice
Trophic AI is not a medical organization and does not provide medical services, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
- All calorie and nutrition information in the app is for general informational purposes only; it is not a substitute for the advice of a physician, dietitian or pharmacist and must not be relied upon for medical decisions.
- Consult a physician before significantly changing your diet — especially if you are pregnant, have diabetes, a history of eating disorders, or any condition that may be affected by diet.
- The app is designed only for general nutrition tracking by healthy adults. You are solely responsible for decisions about your health.
Accuracy of AI estimates
Calorie and nutrition estimates are automated approximations generated from photos by AI; they may be incomplete or inaccurate. Photo angle, lighting, portion visibility and mixed recipes can reduce estimate quality. Data from barcode or label scans also comes from third-party sources (e.g. Open Food Facts) or automated reading and may be unverified.
Always verify values that matter to you (e.g. allergens, sugar, salt) from the product packaging or a reliable source. The editing feature exists precisely for this purpose.
Your account
You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating an account and for keeping access to your account secure. You can permanently delete your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.
Acceptable use
The following are prohibited:
- using the app for unlawful purposes,
- decompiling, reverse engineering or attempting to bypass security measures,
- overloading the service with automated tools,
- using AI outputs to train a competing model,
- attempting to access another user’s data.
Subscriptions and payments
Once paid subscriptions launch, the following applies:
- Subscriptions are billed through your App Store or Google Play account and renew automatically for the period you choose (e.g. weekly, monthly, yearly).
- If you do not want the subscription to renew, cancel it in your store account’s subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancelling does not affect your access until the end of the paid period.
- If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription automatically converts to a paid period.
- Prices are shown on the purchase screen in your local currency. Price changes do not affect your current period.
- Refunds are subject to the refund rules of the store where the purchase was made (Apple/Google). Statutory withdrawal rights of consumers in the EU are reserved.
Content and intellectual property
All rights in the app, its design and its software belong to its developer.
Photos you take belong to you; you grant us only a limited licence to the extent necessary to provide the service (processing the photo for analysis). We do not use your photos to train AI models.
Part of the barcode product data comes from the Open Food Facts database (ODbL licence); when a product photo comes from Open Food Facts, this is indicated on screen (CC-BY-SA).
Third-party services
The app uses Google (AI analysis and sign-in), Apple (sign-in), Supabase (hosting) and Open Food Facts (product database). If these services are interrupted, the related features of the app may temporarily stop working.
Limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is”; we do not promise that it will run uninterrupted or error-free. Except where mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise, and except in cases of intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the last 12 months. You are solely responsible for nutrition and health decisions you make based on AI estimates.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; significant changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and language
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. As a consumer, you retain the right to apply to the consumer arbitration boards and consumer courts where you live; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain applicable to the extent they are more favourable to you. In case of any discrepancy between the Turkish and English versions of this document, the Turkish version prevails.
